Hello, The Peacherie!

I’ve got my new site up and running! I’ll share blog posts, updates, and projects there from now on. The shop will open in November.

The blog posts here will still be available (there are 250 or so!) but The Peacherie is my main hub now.

Hop on over!

Calendar Update

Hello there! It’s been awhile since I’ve even thought about posting, but I have some news! I’ve started my second calendar for 2019 (I know, I’m late to the game; most people have already started selling their 2019 calendars!). Like the 2018 versions, I’ll have a fashion illustration and a home calendar (one that can easily fit into a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc., for moms, housewives, sisters, friends, and the like). I’m really excited for the calendars this year! I’m looking forward to finishing the illustrations so I can start on the scanning and editing πŸ™‚ I’m also trying to decide on a layout…same as last year? Or more detailed?

Here’s a quick snap of the 12 ladies for the fashion illustration calendar…I’ve got to say I love the scotty dogs!

Note: the colors are really off in these pictures…the lighting wasn’t too good πŸ˜‰

I’ve not made time for a lot of reading lately, but I’ve always loved books and libraries. (Speaking of, who goes to the actual library these days? It’s been some time for me, but I hope they don’t become obsolete! They’re so relaxing.) It’s a dream of mine to have a space brimming with books, comfy leather chairs, and nice-smelling candles. And I dream of having a nook specifically designed for reading, like the ones you see beneath staircases or tucked in a corner.

When I think of books, I think of fall. I’ve been thinking of the season a lot lately, and the feeling it brings. Thoughts of apple cider, socks, and throw blankets haven’t been too far from my mind πŸ™‚

But for the moment, I’ll enjoy the hot weather we’ve been having! Summer goes by too fast as it is.

Inspiration – From My Workspace

Okay. This is quite the random assortment of goods here. But there’s a reason for that!

The inspiration for these sketches came from my workspace. I took a second look around and realized these were a few favorites of mine πŸ™‚

Steve Madden Sunglasses: I’ve had these for so long (from TJ Maxx). The frames are a lovely peachy acetate, and the color of the lenses makes everything seem better–especially in summertime! And although the hinges are quite loose, I can’t bring myself to give them up quite yet.

Mango La Croix: This is a recently acquired taste of mine. A friend of mine introduced me to the mango flavor, and I was hooked right away! I haven’t always been a fan of La Croix, but little by little I’ve come to appreciate its light, effervescent qualities.

White Bowls: These tiny things are so useful! I purchased them at Goodwill and loved the simplicity of them right away. It makes eating anything much more fun (cherries, popcorn, pistachios…)!

Large Florals – Try Something New

I’ve been eyeing Kelly Ventura‘s floral paintings (which are gorgeous!) for a while and finally got the courage to paint on a large scale like her. (This painting is 22×30 inches.) The result is quite messy and maybe not so pleasing to the eye, but it was so fun and such a great thing to try!

Use Your Imagination

Here’s a few recent sketches from my sketchbook. I’ve been working on my calendar (which hopefully will come out in late October) and have been trying a few new techniques! (Maybe this isn’t the best for consistency, but it’s been interesting.)

This illustration below is so quintessentially summer. It’s such a warm season that it deserves vibrant colors like scarlet, orange, and sunny yellow!

This blue monochromatic piece below makes me laugh! It’s a combination of stylish and grandma–can’t you picture a bunch of old birds gossiping while they drink their coffee? πŸ™‚

These paint strokes accidentally became this clown-ish, stylish woman! I was only trying out paint colors when my roommate asked “Is that a painting of a lady?” And it did appear to be so! Weird how the imagination can fill in the details and create something interesting!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy July 4th! Here is a patriotic gal in celebration of America’s birthday πŸ™‚

I loved being able to use red, white, and blue with free reign here. And although I’m not a regular pony painter, I think I succeeded in portraying one this time.

More Sketches

Hey! I’ve been busy filling up pages in my sketchbook and I thought I’d share a few here.

First things first. Here is the cover:

I initially just hand-lettered “The Daily Sketch”, but remembered I had a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen, so I used this to give it some flair.

This sketch was inspired, in part, by Joanna Gaines/Magnolia. (I know, I’ve previously said I love/hate them. But I can’t pass up their great eye for design!)

Also, a green jadeite carafe:

I randomly got a bolt of inspiration to paint landscapes (I haven’t done them for a looooong time. Really. It was probably 9th grade) so I settled on the French Alps and the Grand Canyon. They are two totally different geographical areas, but both so gorgeous.

I went a little crazy with the color on the Grand Canyon so it’s quite abstract. I kinda enjoyed it πŸ˜‰

And lastly, here are some (delicious) Rainier cherries:

Since a sketchbook is for, well,Β sketching,Β these illustrations are quite loose and unfinished. But I loved every minute creating them!

Pattern Making

Just for fun, I decided to try my hand at pattern-making…it’s kinda satisfying. I can picture this pattern on a set of sheets or an envelope liner…any other ideas?
