marchesa2.jpgI swear I post the most random stuff. Seriously, though. My last post was about vintage dishes and now I’ve gone to the couture gowns at NYFW.

I think that is why I call my blog Illustration Avenue. I am so inspired by so many different things, and I couldn’t be specific; I didn’t know what it was I wanted to share, other than art I created. I remember thinking way back then (it’s been a year, folks, since I’ve been up and running! Happy belated anniversary to me!) of a blog/website name. It was so hard to do. I feel like the least clever person when it came to that sort of thing. There are SO many quirky, memorable, funny blog names and I really wanted that. But. My talents lie in other areas that DON’T include blog naming 😉

Overall, though, Illustration Avenue seems to be a good choice to my many random illustrations.

If you guys have any ideas or paintings you’d like to see more of, please let me know!

Pink Flamingos

Pink Flamingos.jpg

Flamingos (or flamingoes, if you’re so inclined) have got to be one bird that encounters a lot of controversy. Okay, I wouldn’t go that far, but I have this mixed relationship with the pink bird.

There are scads of flamingo-related things out there. That is my first problem. This bird comes in the form of plastic garden accessories and it also resides on countless bags, bedspreads, pool toys, etc. Also, why is a Las Vegas casino the first thing to pop up on a flamingo Google search? Anyway, the plastic garden accessory really gets me. That is like the trailer park grandma in Florida cliche.

‘Nuff said.

But. They are beautiful (pink!) birds with legs NYFW models would kill for. Also, it is super cool they are pink because of their diets (all that shrimp makes ’em rosy!). And their backward bending knees *sighs*. What more can a bird want?

And for a reference pic:

The birds are killing it.

That’s it for now! (At this point, are you wondering what the point of this post is? Me too.)

Goodnight folks 🙂
