Okay, here is the deal. Men are very hard to draw. They’re angular, dark, brooding, and not anything like a woman. Well, that might be a slight exaggeration. We share the same facial features, etc. But still. I don’t think I could paint this in color to save my life.
Believe me, I tried. And it looked too…feminine. I need a lot more practice! (Anyone up for a 10 Day Men Drawing Challenge? Haha!)
I’ve got to say, though. If you squint your eyes and look at this male specimen, he might be pretty attractive. I don’t know, what do you think?
Well, this was supposed to be posted…yesterday (seeing it is after midnight).
I tried guys. Sometimes life gets really busy and you have to work late, and go shopping, and eat out. Like tonight. That’s what kept me busy.
What do you guys think of this lady? Would you like to see a male portrait next?
Also, Happy June!! Summer is so near; I can feel it!
I tried painting a younger girl (think 6 years old) but this girl looks a bit older. I do like her glasses and ballerina bun. And I like the fact that the bun is a bit lopsided. My buns turn out like that a lot.
If you guys have any questions/comments/suggestions, let me know!
Hey there! Remember how I wanted to do another challenge, like my 10-day Ballerina Challenge?
Well, that day has come.
I’ll be doing a portrait challenge to improve my illustration skills and techniques. I struggle with using skin colors, especially when painting shadows and highlights. Facial proportions are so different between adults and babies, so I want to learn more about that. Eyes are another struggle of mine…they convey so much. Just a slight change in the eyes can ruin a picture!
Today is babies. It sounded like a good idea to start from the beginning, literally.
Babies are so precious. Perks of having a big family…there are always babies around! I actually got the inspiration to paint the last baby from a picture of my niece. She’s a perfect model.
Hope you guys enjoy this challenge! I’m sorry I can’t commit to a 30 day challenge (or *gasps* 100 day challenge!). Plus, I think you might get bored.
