Summer Style

I love this girl’s style for many reasons. Probably because I can so easily picture myself in the same outfit as her. I’m a huge lover of midi skirts, stripes, and Swedish clogs 🙂

Blush Christmas – Greeting Card No. 13

Blush Christmas.jpg

I love all of the fancy holiday outfits that arise this time of year! I often think of how impractical some fashion styles are, like these really pouffy sleeves. I would never even think of buying something like that. I could never pull it off. But they are fun to look at!

On a different note, doesn’t the hair on this lady look so nice and lustrous? And the eyes and red lips are just so…pretty I suppose 🙂

One thought I had while looking at other artists’ Instagrams, websites, etc. is how they have such a consistent style. I always wonder how they achieve that. Does it come naturally, or do they really have to strive to maintain the uniform look? If you look at other posts I have, even within the last couple of months, they have so much variety.

I remember my 8th grade art teacher telling me that if someone thinks your art is done by multiple artists, then that is a bad thing.

The thing with me is I get bored with a certain “look.” Sometimes I use a lot of brushwork and very little pencil, or just the opposite. My color scheme always varies. Even the faces I draw are so diverse style-wise.

Any advice, folks?

Until then, I think I’m going to create stuff that I like and that I find enjoyable!

Christmas Shoes – Greeting Card No. 7

Hello there!

Since so many of us seem to be gearing up to go to Christmas parties and other fancy events, I thought it would be appropriate to paint a killer pair of shoes. Now, you know my opinion on heels, but they do make for an interesting subject.

It seems many of my posts contain some shade of red, especially around this time of year, and I wonder why I love the color so much. Maybe because it can convey such a powerful feeling. Red = passion, you know 🙂

Personally, I don’t wear much of it other than my red satchel from Forever 21. It is such a bold color and can make one instantly recognizable, not something I strive for. My style picks of late seem to be some shade of grey. Boring, I know. I’m kind of wondering where my quirky style went. I miss it.

Anyway, I thought I’d make another list of clothing pieces I love, like the Winter Weather post I did.

Here goes 🙂

White Blouse

Tulle Skirt

Red Heels

There you go, my dream holiday outfit!

Winter Weather

I wish I looked this chic when I bundle up. Instead, I resemble an enormous marshmallow with mismatched winter wear on.

We don’t get usually bad winter weather where I live. We have really mild winters. Until recently.

It has been so cold! (Okay, 25 degrees Fahrenheit isn’t that cold. But it is for me!)

I regretted not stocking up on cute winter clothing this year. Just for fun (and maybe it’ll appear on my Christmas list… 🙂 ), I created a list of really cute winter wear:

1.) J. Crew Chateau Parka

2.)Anthropologie Tisa Seamed Mockneck Sweater

3.) Free People Back to Basics Chunky Knit Beanie

4.)Anthropologie Pommed Berkshire Gloves

5.) J. Crew Authentic Camp Socks

Now I’m on the right track towards looking somewhat cute this winter!

P.S. I ordered new gouache paints from Amazon and this is my first experiment with them.

The OP

If you frequent Pinterest at all, you’ve probably heard of Olivia Palermo. She is the queen of street style. She somehow manages to pull off any look, whether it be rust-colored bell bottoms or a mustard-yellow coat (I’m only slightly jealous. Yellow doesn’t suit me at all!).

Anyway, this piece reminds me of her. I’m not even sure why. I didn’t mean to paint her, but most times my artwork never looks like the thing I’m trying to replicate. Only if I’m lucky will it have some resemblance. But I keep trying anyway. (If at first you don’t succeed…)

Keep hanging in there!
